Transit Master Plan

At the March 5, 2012 Committee of the Whole meeting, Report No. 2012.035 (Transit) - Transit Master Plan, was presented under 'First Reports' in order to allow Committee of the Whole and the general public time to consider the implications of the report before its recommendations are considered by Committee of the Whole on June 4, 2012.

Report No. 2012.035 (Transit) relative to recommending that the proposed Transit Master Plan prepared by GENIVAR Inc. including projected capital and operating investments both short and long term, be adopted in principle and used where feasible in the future planning and delivery of transit services, represented. With respect to Report No. 2012.035 (Transit) we recommend that the proposed Transit Master Plan prepared by GENIVAR Inc. including projected capital and operating investments both short and long term, be adopted in principle, as a guiding document, to be used where feasible in the future planning and delivery of transit services through the annual budget and business planning process;

AND THAT related to specific changes to Transit services, the recommendations outlined within the Phase 1 implementation strategy be approved;

AND THAT Administration be directed to begin the process of establishing a transit terminal in the Intercity area, in keeping with the preferred route network and terminal concept recommendations;

AND THAT Administration be directed to develop plans to realize service delivery improvements to specialized services as outlined in the Phase 1 recommendation;

AND THAT Administration report back by September 2012 with a comprehensive implementation plan to achieve these directions;

AND THAT Administration continue to report to Council on an annual basis on the status of City Transit services as related to the implementation of remaining Transit Master Plan goals and strategies;

AND THAT any necessary By-laws be presented to City Council for ratification.

Report No. 2012.076 (Engineering) recommending that dedicated bicycle lanes be implemented along Arundel Avenue, Hudson Avenue, Huron Avenue, Shuniah Street and Vickers Street. (Pages 28 - 44)

With respect to Report No. 2012.076 (Engineering), we recommend that dedicated bicycle lanes be implemented along Arundel Street, Hudson Avenue, Huron Avenue, Shuniah Street and Vickers Street, as outlined in this Report;

AND THAT an education program be developed and implemented in conjunction with the implementation of 2012 active transportation routes;

AND THAT By-law No. 065-2011 be amended as outlined in the Report, in form and content satisfactory to the City Solicitor;

AND THAT any necessary by-laws be presented to City Council for ratification.

Contract 2, 2011 - Sidewalks and Street Lighting - Extension of Contract Price

Report No. 2012.090 (Engineering) recommending that an increase in the value of Contract 2, 2011 – Sidewalks and Street Lighting awarded to Prime Terra Group Inc. be authorized in the amount of $19,315.63 (inclusive of HST) bringing the total contract to $1,352,693.31 (inclusive of HST). (Pages 45 - 51)

With respect to Report No. 2012.090 (Engineering), we recommend that an increase in the value of Contract 2, 2011 – Sidewalks and Street Lighting awarded to Prime Terra Group Inc. be authorized in the amount of $19,315.63 (inclusive of HST) bringing the total contract to $1,352,693.31 (inclusive of HST);

AND THAT the work be funded in accordance with the Source of Financing form attached to this Report;

AND THAT Appropriation Change Order No. 12 be approved;

AND THAT the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign all documentation related to these matters;

AND THAT any necessary By-law be presented to City Council for ratification.
