With respect to the Twenty-Fourth Special Meeting of the Forty-Third Thunder Bay City Council meeting held on May 30, 2012, we recommend that the agenda as printed, including any additional information and new business, be confirmed.

REPORTS OF MUNICIPAL OFFICERS

City of Thunder Bay Declared Emergency

Mr. Tim Commisso, City Manager will provide an update relative to the status of the declared emergency of the flooding disaster in the City of Thunder Bay.

Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP)

Memorandum from Mr. Tim Commisso, City Manager dated May 30, 2012 relative to presenting the following resolution. (Pages 1 - 2)

With respect to the recently experienced storm event of May 27-28, 2012 The City of Thunder Bay has experienced substantial damage to municipal property and infrastructure and has received reported losses of private damage, the council of The City of Thunder Bay hereby requests the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to declare The City of Thunder Bay a “disaster area” for the purposes of the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP);

AND THAT, should the Minister declare a disaster area regarding the private component of ODRAP, City Council will immediately, under the authority of ODRAP, appoint members to a disaster relief committee to administer ODRAP assistance;

AND THAT the City Manager and City Clerk be authorized to apply, through the Province of Ontario, for such disaster relief funding as might be available from the Government of Canada;

AND THAT the City Manager report back on options for direct assistance to private property owners affected by the disaster event.

THAT the following By-law be introduced, read, dealt with individually, engrossed, signed by the Mayor and Clerk, sealed and numbered:

1. A By-law to confirm the proceedings of a meeting of Council, this 30th day of May, 2012.

Explanation

: To confirm the proceedings and each motion, resolution and other action passed or taken by the Council at this meeting is, except where prior approval of the Ontario Municipal Board is required, adopted, ratified and confirmed as if all such proceedings had been expressly embodied in this By-law.
